
Associate Professor Ben Dyson
Ben Dyson (Ph. D.) has carried out research and taught for over twenty years in Canada, the USA, and New Zealand. He is currently an associate professor at the University of Auckland in Auckland New Zealand. Prior appointments were at the University of Memphis and University of New Hampshire in the USA and McGill University in Canada. He completed his Ph.D. at The Ohio State University and has been a professor of physical education and teacher educator for sixteen years. Prior to this he taught physical education at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels for four years. His research focuses on curriculum and instruction in physical education, including Cooperative Learning, Adventure Education, student perspectives, assessment, and research on Physical Education policy implementation in schools. Dr. Dyson is presently a member of the National Task Force for Assessment in Physical Education in the US. He has been awarded the service award from the American Heart Association for his work to improve the amount of physical education and physical activity required in Tennessee schools. Professional achievements include presentations at numerous state, national, and international conferences, and publications in professional and research journals. He is a research fellow of the Research Consortium for the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance
